I will follow Heavenly Father’s plan for me.

I will remember my baptismal covenant and listen to the Holy Ghost.

I will choose the right. I know I can repent when I make a mistake.

I will be honest with Heavenly Father, others, and myself.

I will use the names of Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ reverently. I will not swear or use crude words.

I will do those things on the Sabbath that will help me feel close to Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ.

I will honor my parents and do my part to strengthen my family.

I will keep my mind and body sacred and pure, and I will not partake of things that are harmful to me.

I will dress modestly to show respect for Heavenly Father and myself.

I will only read and watch things that are pleasing to Heavenly Father.

I will only listen to music that is pleasing to Heavenly Father.

I will seek good friends and treat others kindly.

I will live now to be worthy to go to the temple and do my part to have an eternal family.

I Am a Child of God

I know Heavenly Father loves me, and I love Him.

I can pray to Heavenly Father anytime, anywhere.

I am trying to remember and follow Jesus Christ.

My Gospel Standards Full Color Printables

In 2017 the worldwide Primary theme is “Choose the Right.” I love it! The CTR shield is so iconic and we’ll be using it in many ways all year long.

We’ll also be using My Gospel Standards as the framework to discuss how to choose the right, month by month. If you aren’t in Primary, you may not be familiar with these! They are part of the Faith in God program, a goal setting program for Senior Primary. They are sort of like For the Strength of Youth but simplified for a younger crowd. We’ll use these 13 mini-subjects as the theme for bishopric visits and more during the year. I was also delighted to hear that The Friend will be offering a CTR Challenge every month in 2017 that correlates with the My Gospel Standards subjects.

I’m sharing this all to explain that our Primary is going to be spending time with each of these 13 gospel standards next year. Because of that I wanted to make them easy to understand for children as young as the Sunbeams! So I paired up each standard with a simple, easy to understand icon, as you can see above.

The first printable is a sort of mini poster and is available below in full color in tabloid (11×17) size.

I also made each of these standards available as individual letter size, full color printables, like the one you see below. You can print these at home on a color printer if you want. Printing all 13 would make an easy bulletin board and would only cost about $7.

gospel-standards-follow-heavenly-fathers-planThere are 13 standards, plus a couple of extras below. First a kind of cover page:

I also made an easier to print poster–you can print it on two sheets of regular, letter-size paper if you don’t have easy access to a print shop that can print 11×17 sizes.

So with these four extras plus the 13 gospel standards, there are a total of 17 full color pages available in this Gospel Standards packet.

I think this is all I will offer of the full color variety, but over the next week or so I’ll post these icons and formats in an easy to photocopy black and white version. I also have a poster size (engineering print) in the works… stay tuned!

My Gospel Standards Printable

Hey there! It’s been a crazy week around here: four feverish boys, first week of preschool for my baby, two back-to-school nights. So I’m just getting around to pulling together sharing time for tomorrow. I really like keeping it as simple as I can. I’ll be talking about John 14:15: “If ye love me, keep my commandments.”

My Gospel Standards black and white printable

For the Junior Primary we’ll be discussing how to keep commandments. I have 10 images from an old Shauna Mooney Kawasaki sharing time book (love her) of kids keeping the commandments. We’re going to do a simple basketball game with a bucket and a ball. If they make the bucket they choose one of the images and we’ll talk about the commandment on the image. Super simple.

In the Senior Primary I’m looking forward to looking up the scriptures listed in the sharing time outline (Exodus 20:7, Exodus 20:8-10, Exodus 20:12, John 13:34-35, Mosiah 18:10, D&C 42:40-41). I’m sticking to the outline exactly, but I want them have their own copy of “My Gospel Standards” to work with. The only versions I could find were in full color. Ain’t nobody got time for that. (Translation: I can’t afford to print 40 in full color for a sharing time.) So I made my own super simple version of My Gospel Standards in black and white. It’s formatted 4 per page so I only have to make 10 copies for my whole senior primary. Hopefully they’ll keep it in their scriptures.

FHE with the “My Gospel Standards” Primary Poster

"I am trying to remember and follow Jesus Christ." ("My Gospel Standards" poster)

“I am trying to remember and follow Jesus Christ.” (“My Gospel Standards” poster)

In my book FHEasy, I frequently quote from the Primary poster “My Gospel Standards” in the sections for younger children. This is a poster for Primary-aged children that lists thirteen standards for gospel living and has a watermark of the Salt Lake City temple in the background. On the bottom of the poster, it has this quote: “I am a child of God. I know Heavenly Father loves me, and I love Him. I can pray to Heavenly Father anytime, anywhere. I am trying to remember and follow Jesus Christ.”

When this poster was introduced, the Primary general presidency said,

Primary children have been given [a list of] gospel standards to help them live the gospel of Jesus Christ. . . . During the coming year, find opportunities to teach these standards in family home evening, in the classroom, and in sharing time. (“My Gospel Standards,” Ensign, Sept. 2000)

I was able to get a large poster from my church library for my children’s bedrooms. My older girls decided where they’d like to put it so they can see it and read it easily. My older daughter put it on the closet that her bed faces. That way, when she is laying in bed, her eyes are pointed toward the lists of standards and the temple. My younger daughter put it on her door where she would see it every time she walked into her room, and it is also easy to see from the hallway.

It’s a support not only to my children but also to me. I hope that if you have small children at home you will take the time to get at least one poster at put it up.

You can download this poster at https://www.lds.org/media-library/images/my-gospel-standards-183289. If you are looking at it online, a clearer version is at http://media.ldscdn.org/images/media-library/beliefs-practices/my-gospel-standards-183289-print.jpg. The printed version is available at lds.org/store here as well as a variety of LDS bookstores.

I just found a bookmark version of the gospel standards here.

For a free FHE lesson and correlated scriptures, put your information in the right side bar and it will be immediately emailed to you.

Happy Home Evenings!
