Our concept is simple:  Eliminate the cost of opening and owning a funeral home with chapels and pass the savings on to the public, but provide the upmost level of compassionate personal service.

We provide graveside services, or we can do the service indoors at your Synagogue, or one of several Synagogues that rent their facilities at reasonable fees (Skokie, Wilmette, Highland Park and Northbrook), or from cemetery chapels including Westlawn, New Light and Sunset Memorial Lawns.

Usually we save families $2500-$4500 on the same or similar services and merchandise versus what the charges would be from any Chicago Jewish funeral home with chapels.  As an example, in April of 2020 we took an assignment on a funeral contract that a family had prepaid through Weinstein & Piser.  Weinstein & Piser told the family they couldn't change anything their father provided including eliminating the limousine, even though the service needed to now be graveside.  The family told us this and we told them to use us.   With suggestions on slightly changing the casket and vault the family saved over $6500.

Since opening in 2010 we have directed over 2650 funeral services.
We provide the utmost in compassionate professional service. Our Jewish funeral directors have over 125 years of combined Illinois licensure.  Our policy is to treat every family as if they were our own.

Our typical charge for our services is $2845-$3145. Chicago Jewish funeral homes with chapels usually charge over $4500 for the same services. You can see how we compare by going to our Compare Mitzvah tab, or going to www.comparemitzvah.com .

We carry the same and/or similar caskets to all of our competitors.
Our caskets are priced substantially less than Chicago Jewish funeral homes with chapels charge. Our caskets start at $550 (one of our competitors shows their least expensive casket on their General Price List as being $2295). Our most often selected casket of $1850 (least expensive round top traditional poplar wood) is $2795-$2995 for a similar casket from our competitors.

We are the only Chicago Jewish funeral business that shows our caskets with their prices on our website.
(go to the Funeral Merchandise tab, or www.mitzvahcaskets.com ).
We believe our competitors don't want you to know their casket prices until after they already have you at their facility as most families will feel they are trapped. THIS IS NOT TRUE! You can go onto our funeral merchandise tab , or go to www.mitzvahcaskets.com , even while making funeral arrangement at a Chicago Jewish funeral home to compare the prices we offer. You are free to purchase the casket from us and the funeral home can NOT charge you an extra fee for doing this and we won't charge you any delivery.

Of course the best way for us to save your family the most is if you don't use one a Chicago Jewish funeral home with chapels for the service and allow us to provide the services and the merchandise.

EVEN IF YOU HAVE ALREADY HAD ANOTHER FUNERAL HOME PICK UP YOUR FAMILY MEMBER, YOU CAN SWITCH TO US!

We have often gone to our competitors with a release from the family and transferred the deceased into our care.

Discounted Synagogue Funeral Plans.

Families that belong to a synagogue that has a discounted funeral plan with one of our competitors can still use us. We guarantee a minimum 25% savings versus the discounted funeral plan price.*

We pre-arrange funeral services.
Once paid, our charges are guaranteed not to exceed what is available at the time of need. Funds are placed into an insurance policy for the person who the funeral service is for and remains in the persons name until the time of death.

We also pre-arrange for persons whose funds are being depleted by long term care facilities. This allows a family to shelter funds for the funeral prior to these funds being depleted, allowing for earlier qualification for public aid.

Switching your pre-need to Mitzvah is easy.

Families that have set up a pre-paid funeral insurance policy through one of our competitors should be aware that they are not required to use the funeral home that set up this policy, even if the policy was set up "irrevocable". We accept these and in most cases refund the family thousands of dollars.

Shomer Shabbos Funerals

Orthodox and traditional families can be assured that everything required can and will be provided including tahara, tachrichim, and shomer.

Please feel free to call us at 630-MITZVAH (630-648-9824) at any time of day or night if you should need our services, or have questions.

Thank you
